LIZA FLASHBACK ~ 1974 When Marbella was 'Cabaret'

In the summer of 1974, in full riding high after winning the most famous musical film, Liza Minnelli revolutionized Costa for three days

Despite everything that has happened since then, the oldest of the place do not hesitate to ensure that the presence of Liza Minnelli in Marbella in the summer of 1974 was the event tied to the world's most important in the history of the city show. Saying that is like these days come and Marbella Beyoncé, Rihanna or Lady Gaga may not reach to understand the scope of that event.
Difficult to compare nearly 40 years later, but go back to the chronicles of those days can understand the uproar caused in Marbella in the early years of the 'jet' the presence of a woman who had just won the Oscar with Cabaret, possibly most celebrated musical history, and that for three days not only gave performances, but she was spotted playing golf in a flamenco dancing and enjoying the legendary Marbella 70s.
This visit is still remembered, not only by the ten million pesetas which, it is said, took the artist three days of performances, nor for the 5,000 it cost to attend the show with dinner at the club Torre del Duque beach and it cost only 1,600 with a drink, but above all for the promotional impact Marbella supposed to bring someone who at the time was the undisputed star of the show on the world scene.
Marbella, in newspapers

Behind this initiative was one of the greatest visionaries in the history of the Costa del Sol, José Banús, who never confess if the accounts came out with Liza Minnelli, convinced surely that was not making money as an art promoter but to put Marbella in newspapers worldwide.

Just call her Liza! Lady Gaga pays homage to iconic singer Minnelli as she mimics her style for night out in New York...Iconic style: Lady Gaga looked just like Liza Minnelli as she greeted fans outside a studio in Midtown, New York City on Wednesday...

AND THE ONE & ONLY LIZA!  IS A DUET IN THE WORKS?

 By Rachel Levy for MailOnline

She's vocal about her love for iconic entertainer, Liza Minnelli.
And Lady Gaga paid homage to the 68-year-old star as she stepped out in New York City on Wednesday, appearing strikingly to the daughter of the late Judy Garland.
The 28-year-old pop star sported a dark brunette fringed wig that mimicked Liza's signature pixie cut.

And with her bold brows, long lashes, and crimson slick, there was no denying her resemblance to the All That Jazz hitmaker.
Meanwhile, Mother Monster was clad in a loose-fitted black cape-sleeved turtneck dress while showing off her bare legs in pointed-toe pumps.
In February 2011, the Applause songstress made her fondness for Liza known when she gave a shout-out to the star during her Monster Ball at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

'I don’t lip-sync,' the New York-native reminded the audience during the concert which was being filmed by HBO.
'I’m not going to waste your time watching some b***h lip-sync her way to an HBO special, especially not with Liza watching.'
And it appears Liza reciprocates the affection for Gaga, as she gushed about her during an interview in March 2014 with the Los Angeles Times.
'Lady Gaga, I love. She's a good singer; she plays the piano. She's a good musician, and she sat down and thought about how to get people's attention.'
The girlfriend of Chicago Fire actor Taylor Kinney just wrapped up her ArtRave: The Artpop Ball tour, with the final stop being Paris, France over the weekend.
Meanwhile, Liza recently teamed up with jazz legend Wynton Marsalis for a new song titled Until The End which will be featured in the documentary film Garnet's Gold.
The single will be be released on iTunes December 2nd.

The original duet was written and produced by Academy Award-nominated composer J. Ralph for the "Garnet's Gold" Original Motion Picture Sountrack.
"I was delighted when J. Ralph first told me he had written a song with me in mind and when I heard it I knew he meant it. It reminded me of some of the best songs I've recorded over the years," said Minnelli in a statement.
Lava Records founder Jason Flom added, "This is yet another career-defining performance by the already incomparable Liza Minnelli. J. Ralph had written and produced an instant classic and timeless standard for Liza."

"Until The End" is the grand finale and end title song of the documentary "Garnet's Gold," produced by Simon Chinn, the two-time Academy Award-winning producer of "Man On Wire" and "Searching for Sugar Man."

Liza Minnelli is enjoying Los Angeles so much after recovering from back surgery, friends worry she’s not coming back to New York any time soon.
We hear Minnelli’s been recuperating well in a rented Beverly Hills spread since September.
She was on the town last week with former Broadwaysupporting player Cortés Alexander and Billy Dee Williams at Herb Alpert’s Bel Air jazz club Vibrato, and we’re told she has told pals she’ll be back at the club.
“Liza’s been going out with friends, telling them she feels wonderful,” said a pal, who points out that Minnelli was born in LA but moved to New York as a teen. “If she doesn’t come back soon, I may have to go out there and drag her back,” sighed a Big Apple confidante.
