Bradly Briggs (TOLUCA LAKE, CALIFORNIA) - See all my reviews Legendary figures like Liza Minnelli live in a fish bowl world with little chance of privacy afforded by most...forty-five years later in spite of this, Liza is thriving & touring the world with her wildly successful world class act in super-prime form! Holiday time on Broadway this past season witnessed an SRO engagement at The Palace by the legendary icon leading to another deserved Tony Award and now Liza is slated to record a DVD of award winning "Liza's At The Palace" in Las Vegas & judging from that recent well-received two-night Hollywood Bowl appearance, a happy Liza gave the tour-de-force performance of a lifetime drawing numerous standing ovations from enraptured audience so clearly this coming event is destined to become another legendary one from the Superstar as Liza is truly back...sounding great while looking slim and gorgeous, Liza is ready for her big close-up in Las Vegas! Original Cast Recording is a fine souvenir of another great Liza legendary event with the star in sublime form & robust voice in a lushly produced setting by Phil Ramone who in the past produced other memorable works with Liza. "I Would Never Leave You" is a haunting & mesmerizing new Liza classic & Billy Stritch who co-wrote this gem greatly contributes to the power & musical brilliance of this event...great mix of songs and Liza nails "But The World Goes Round" from "New York, New York", "My Own Best Friend" from "Chicago" & "Maybe This Time" from "Cabaret", shines in exhuberant Kay Thompson medley with "The Young Williams Brothers" (as in Andy decades ago!), beautifully moving while vocally powerful in a brilliant reworking complete with new personalized tribute to mom in Garland's masterful "Palace Medley" now beautifully shared with Liza...mom would be so proud! While this engaging recording serves as a memorable souvenir of the now legendary "Tony Award" winning show, it is also a fine warm-up to coming Vegas version to be filmed & with this new "Live" version available, everyone who loves this wondrous entertainer should be blissfully happy! Bravo Liza Minnelli!!!
