Liza Minnelli praises Michelle Williams's casting in 'Cabaret'

Liza Minnelli has praised the casting of Michelle Williams in Broadway's revival of Cabaret.

Williams will make her Broadway debut in Cabaret as Sally Bowles, opposite Alan Cumming as the Master of Ceremonies.

Minnelli - who won an Oscar for playing Sally Bowles in the 1972 film adaptation - shared with E! News that she is excited to see the new production.

"Michelle is a wonderful actress and I love Alan Cumming," she declared.

The star continued: "I'm excited to see what they will do with the show and am sure it will be great!"

Sam Mendes and Rob Marshall will be directing the Cabaret revival for the Roundabout Theatre Company.

Previews of Cabaret begin in March 2014.
