Liza Minnelli sells showstopper home for $8.37M
Legendary performer Liza Minnelli has sold her iconic Upper East Side home for $8.37 million, according to city property records.
Although Minnelli has been spending more time in Los Angeles for work and to be closer to her family and friends, she “will always consider New York to be her home,” says Scott Gorenstein, a spokesperson for Minnelli. “While she sold her apartment, Liza still plans to spend a lot of time in the city and will be here in the upcoming weeks to rehearse her new show, “Great Day.”
The apartment was on the 21st floor of the Imperial House, a non descript post-war building by Emery Roth & Sons at 150 East 69th Street.
The buyers are Robert Beyer and Loren Pack.
The Cabaret star, whose gutsy, full-of-life performances have become part of New York’s cultural fabric, has been battling substance abuse — like her late mother, Judy Garland, before her.
Earlier this year, Minnelli was in a Malibu rehab clinic.
Her latest song, “Until the End,” with Wynton Marsalis, was written and produced by Oscar-nominated composer and producer J. Ralph. The home sale was first reported in the Real Deal.
